Three Warning Signs of Alcoholism

By James Loope

Do you think that you or loved one has an alcoholism problem? If so, we'll cover three of the common warning signs of alcoholism. In this article, we'll cover some of the noticeable biological effects and psychological effects that you can pinpoint to determine if you or someone else has an alcohol problem.

The first common of the warning signs of alcoholism is that the person has drastic physical changes. It is common for alcoholics to have physical changes such as weight loss, older appearance, and drooping eyes. This is usually one of the easier indicators to identify alcoholism. Weight loss can often tell a lot, especially if the person in question has been at a moderate rate most of their lives. If all of the sudden they have an almost anorexic appearance, then you know there is reason to be concerned.

A very common indicator of alcoholism is that the person in question is extremely violent or angry when confronted with a drinking problem. This just shows some of the psychological effects of alcohol on someone who is dependent. They have an addiction and you are threatening their dependency on that addiction. This is an absolutely solid way to determine if someone has a drinking problem.

One of the best warning signs of alcoholism is if you or the person in question often drinks alone or hides the fact that they are drinking. Now, this indication excludes the person who has a drink now and then. But, if someone is drinking alone to get drunk, then there is a serious problem of dependency.

If you or the person your concerned about has any of the aforementioned warning signs of alcoholism, chances are they are alcoholics. You should seek help in confronting the issue and getting both psychological and biological help as appropriate. The success rate for recovering alcoholics is much higher when others are involved.
